Working with the South Carolina Department of History and Archives, the Society has developed an extensive program for designing and installing historical markers at important sites throughout Beaufort County.

“Marker Mania;” Explore Beaufort County History, One Marker at a Time
Our “Marker Mania Scavenger Hunt Through History” in 2020 was a great success. See some of our “Maniacs” in action below! More than 250 families registered, including 200 school-aged children! Markers throughout the county provided a wide range of historical tidbits, emphasizing our area’s importance in local, state, and national affairs over the centuries. Don’t wait for our next official “Hunt,” use our Locations Lists and Google map to plan your own scavenger hunt through history!
